He was born and brought up in Sunderland Tyne Wear and started acting at the citys Royalty Theatre His first big break came when he was cast in the role of schoolboy Darren having an illicit affair with his teacher Lauren in the 2handed play Scarborough which played to rave reviews at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival
