Marju Marynel Kuut February 12 1946 Tallinn April 10 2022 was an Estonian singer songwriter music producer and DJ In 1965 the prestigious jazz magazine Down Beat named her the best jazz singer in the Soviet Union She was the singer of the popular bands MERL and MIR in the 1970s She has worked in the variety shows Astoria Tallinn and Viru In 1971 Kuut participated in the feature film Varastati Vana Toomas and the rock opera Imelugu at the Vanemuine Theater Her recordings are on dozens of compilation albums and many solo albums among others the CDs with old hits Raagus vysut 2005 and Marju Marynel Kuut 2006 She had received a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to Estonian music
